Smoothie Smacks Drinks

The task was given to make a package or label for a fruit and vegetable given that children do not normally like and to make it appealing to them. Plum and Artichoke were the chosen fruits and vegetables that needed kid-friendly packaging. Research in stores and online was done to see what type of children’s food packaging was on the market. Shopping trends of parents were also researched as parents are the ones buying food for their children. It was shown that many parents are focusing on buying organic products for their children while the children are more interested in fun packaging. These two things are hard to find on children’s food packaging together, so the packaging being designed for the plums and artichokes needed to fill this niche.

After picking out a bottle and measuring the dimensions the label needed to be, a file was made in Adobe Illustrator and the dimensions for the label were input on the workspace. The background base layer needed to look organic where the parents would buy it for its healthy properties and so a tan was chosen for that color. Next, the fun characters were designed to be cute mascots that kids could find enjoyable. The mascots also help the children learn more about what the fruit and vegetable look like and be able to identify it outside of the drink. The title needed to be a fun name where alliteration could appeal to children too. The wavy box the title is in was then formed around the title once it was placed. All other elements were slowly and meticulously created and placed accordingly. After creating the final draft of the label, it was time to print, cut, and apply the label to the package. The finished product is to be healthy and organic for the parents to buy but fun and exciting for the kids to enjoy.
